Food 4 Heroes and Relish together provide meals to NHS Front Line.
Relish Events, Cirencester has partnered up with Food 4 Heroes Charity to provide 600 meals at the weekends to the NHS Front Line.
Cirencester based caterers Relish have started working closely with Yorkshire based Charity, Food 4 Heroes, to produce nutritious microwaveable meals to those on the NHS Front Line in Gloucestershire. The 600 meals are being produced in Relish’s commercial production kitchen and distributed to Gloucester Royal Hospital where, at a safe distance, they are handed out to the staff by a team of volunteers.
Food 4 Heroes is a Charity that was set up earlier this year when Amanda Guest of Guest Dining, and Brother John Brownhill, watched the now viral video from Nurse Dawn Bilborough, facing empty shelves after finishing a long shift. Amanda has been in the catering industry for 35 years, along with brother John and with the support of local chefs, they have worked together to create dishes for the NHS Staff. They first distributed these meals to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary on the 28th March 2020 and since that first distribution, it has become their mission to spread their efforts nationally, as the charity Food 4 Heroes.
Relish was approached to cover the Gloucestershire area and willingly took on this challenge. Their first batch of meals goes out to the NHS Heroes this weekend. On the menu is chicken, garden pea and leek carbonara and a hearty Hereford beef cottage pie – delicious and nutritious food to fuel the hungry front-liners.
“We’re thrilled to get involved in such a worthwhile cause and grateful for the opportunity to work with so many other great local chefs and caterers” – Philippa said.
Rob added: “It’s also great to see our kitchens open again, receiving deliveries from our awesome local suppliers like Jesse Smith’s butchers and Bramleys greengrocers and seeing our talented chefs busy preparing all these delicious box meals for the NHS.”
